Guest Workshop with Joe Hudson

First in our 2016 Series of Guest Teacher Workshops on the Isle of Wight!!
Sunday April 3rd – Joe Hudson will be over to teach TWO great Argentine Tango Afternoon Workshops for us in Newport:

Workshop 1 – Techniques for Leg Wraps and Ganchos

(suitable for anyone already comfortable with Walking in an Embrace and Ochos)

This workshop will explore techniques you can use to create beautiful and dynamic Leg wraps and Ganchos. On the way it will cover topics including the free-leg, direction changes, use of torsion and momentum.

Workshop 2 – Techniques for Shared Axis

(suitable for anyone with at least 6 months regular social dancing experience and who is also attending Workshop 1).

This workshop will introduce leaning and hanging movements in tango (Volcada and Colgada), with safe and fun applications for social dancing. These can be highly musical and elegant movements to have in your tango vocabulary. For anyone already confident with the basic techniques, more advanced variations will be offered.

Both Workshops are by prior Booking only! Cost is £12 for Workshop 1 only (including refreshments and, you guessed it, loads of home made cakes…), or £20 to do both Workshops with a short Practica at end – please let us know as soon as possible if you would like to book or have any queries!

Joe dances a modern style of Tango, influenced by the many teachers he has studied the dance with, while travelling across Europe. Other influences include his background in the martial art of Jiu Jitsu and experience in the modern dance form of Contact Improvisation.
