Neolonga Europa first edition is next Saturday, hosted by Creative Tango Nottingham.
You might be wondering what is in the name?
The answer is that the format and the attitude is a celebration of European Neo Tango culture.
We dance with freedom, allowing our tango to evolve.
We invite whoever we want to dance with in anyway that is respectful. anyone can ask anyone.
The music is in “arcs” traversing emotions – happy, euphoric, intense, melancholic,…. Its mixed so that there is sometimes not a clear beginning or end… simply that one piece fades away as another drifts into focus, leading your dance through the gently changing moods. There are occaisional moments of silence inbetween arcs so that we can collect ourselves and relax.
In these moments there is no formailty about where you get off the arc… the etiquette is simply to lower your level of embrace and attention, and gently let your partner know its time for the next dance – this is a thank you x
We positively encourage you all to lead and follow if you like to. Whether you are on the follower or leader side of the embrace does not matter. You get what you give – give generously and be rewarded with amazing dancing and musicality. Express yourself – be a celebrant of what you do.
Lights and visuals are important – we do them!
this is neo tango!
